Being out here in the 2nd Phase of Basni means we’re surrounded by a lot of other workshops and small factories. Heritage Crafts is located at Plot No. 634 on Road No. 8. It’s a busy part of the M.I.A. area, and there is always the sound of machinery or trucks reversing somewhere nearby. We’ve been in this particular spot for a good bit of time now. Our space is mostly taken up by heavy workbenches and the materials we use every single day. It’s not a place where you’d find a lot of decorations on the walls or fancy furniture. We care more about having enough light to see exactly what we’re doing. Most days involve a lot of physical work and lifting. We’re moving things around, cutting, or putting pieces together. It gets quite dusty in here, so we’re always sweeping up at the end of every shift. The weather in Basni can be pretty tough, especially when it gets hot in the afternoons. We just drink a lot of water and tea and keep going. We know most of the neighbors on this road. Sometimes we borrow a tool or help someone move a heavy load when they are short-handed. It’s that kind of place. We don’t have a big sign out front, just the address and the name painted on the gate. We’re usually inside focused on whatever task is next.
