We operate out of G-33 and 34 in Phase-II of the Boranada Industrial Area. Having two units side by side helps us spread things out a bit, though it still feels cramped when a big shipment of materials arrives. This part of the industrial area is always buzzing with activity. You can hear the sounds of hammering and cutting from sunrise to sunset. Handicrafts Centre is basically a place where we take raw materials and try to make them look like something decent. It’s physical work and your hands get dirty within the first ten minutes of the shift. We have a small crew, mostly guys who have been doing this for a long time. They don't need much instruction anymore. We just get on with it. The floors are usually covered in scraps and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time for that. There’s always another project to finish or a deadline we’re trying to meet. We keep our doors open to let the air circulate, which also lets in the dust from the road. It’s just how it is in Boranada. We don’t have a fancy showroom here. If someone wants to see what we do, they just walk into the middle of the workspace. It’s honest work and we like being part of the local manufacturing scene.
