Our shop is on Circuit House Road, pretty close to Ajit Bhawan. It’s a nice area of town to be in. Gems And Jewels Palace isn't one of those big, intimidating jewelry stores you see in the malls. We’re a bit more low-key. We have our display cases filled with things we’ve picked out or made, and we spend a lot of time talking to people who walk in. Some are looking for a gift, others just want to see what’s new. We sit behind the counter and show them pieces under the light. It’s a personal way of doing things. We don't use high-pressure tactics. If someone likes something, they buy it. If not, they’re still welcome to stay for a bit. The street outside gets busy with tourists and locals, especially in the evenings. We’ve been here long enough that people recognize us. Sometimes we’re just sitting there cleaning a ring or fixing a clasp. It’s quiet work that requires a lot of patience. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in the city. We just want to offer nice things at a fair price. It’s a family-style environment here. Most of our regular customers have become friends over the years, which makes coming to work every morning much more enjoyable. We usually keep some tea ready for anyone who wants to sit and chat for a while. It keeps the atmosphere friendly and relaxed for everyone who stops by.
