About Antique Furniture House – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Jodhpur
Antique Furniture House is based in Boranada, specifically in the IIIrd phase at E-213. If you come out this way, you’ll see plenty of industrial setups, but our place is easy to spot because of the wood stacked outside. It smells like sawdust and varnish around here all the time. We work with our hands mostly, using old tools and some newer ones to get the furniture looking right. It’s not like those big stores where everything is made of plastic or particle board. We deal with real wood. That makes it heavy, so moving a wardrobe or a table is a two-man job at least. The workshop is often messy with wood shavings on the floor and half-finished chairs tucked into corners. We don't have a showroom with bright lights. If you want to see what we have, you just walk into the back and look at what’s currently being worked on. Boranada can be a dusty place, so we have to wipe everything down before it goes out to a customer. We don't really have a sales pitch. People see the furniture and they either like the weight and feel of it or they don't. We spend a lot of time sanding and polishing until our arms ache. It’s slow work and you can’t rush it if you want the joints to hold. We just keep at it, one piece of furniture at a time, until the sun goes down and the shop closes.
