Manoj Mediator

You will find me over at the Krishi Upaj Mandi in Basni, at unit B-1. If you have ever been to the mandi, you know it is a loud, busy place full of farmers, traders, and trucks. It smells like grain and earth, and there is always shouting as people negotiate prices. I’m a mediator. My job is basically to help people reach an agreement when they are buying or selling. I have been in this spot for a long time. My office is small and usually has a thin layer of dust from the market activity outside. I have a couple of chairs for visitors and a desk that has seen better days. People come in to settle disputes or to have me help them with the details of a deal. It is not a fancy life, but it is interesting. I see all sorts of people every day. I don’t use a computer much, mostly just a notebook and my phone. I know most of the regulars at the mandi. We have tea together in the mornings before the real madness starts. I don’t have a website or any big advertisements. People know where I am, and they know I will listen to both sides. It is about being fair and knowing how things work in the market. Sometimes it’s exhausting when the market is at its peak, but I wouldn’t know what else to do. It’s a real job for real people.
