Asian Art & Craft

Our workshop, Asian Art & Craft, is situated at F-327 in the Riico Industrial Area, Iiird Phase, Boranada. It is a bit of a drive out here, but we have the space we need. The building is large and open, which is good because we have a lot of raw materials sitting around. There is usually the smell of wood or paint in the air depending on what we are working on that day. We have a group of craftsmen who have been doing this for decades. They don't use high-tech machines; it’s mostly hand tools and a lot of patience. My desk is right near the entrance so I can see everyone coming and going. It gets quite hot in Boranada during the summer, so we start early in the morning to beat the heat. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most people who buy from us just see the finished products when they are already packed for shipping. We spend a lot of time on the floor making sure things look right. Sometimes we have to redo a piece if it doesn't turn out well, which is frustrating but necessary. We aren't a corporate giant, just a local business trying to keep traditional skills alive in this industrial park. We don't have a lot of rules, just that the work needs to be done properly. It’s a simple life out here in the Iiird Phase, and we wouldn't have it any other way. We just keep our heads down and create.
