Allrounder Farmer Producer Company Limited is over at Vithal Sakharam Karhale’s house in Jamb(Bk), near Jintur. The name came about because as farmers, we really have to be allrounders. We have to be mechanics, laborers, and salesmen all at once. There isn't anyone else to do the work for us. We are just a bunch of guys from the village who got tired of the way things were going. Jintur is a decent place but the market is far and the middleman takes a big cut. We sit around at Vithal’s place and try to figure out how to bypass some of that. It’s not easy because none of us are experts in business. We just know how to grow things like cotton and soy. The village of Jamb is small and everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway. We share our tractors and our tools when someone’s stuff breaks down. That’s just how it’s always been here. We decided to make it official with this company name so we could get some help from the government programs. There is a lot of red tape and we often get frustrated with the forms and the waiting. But we keep at it because there isn't much of a choice. We hope that by working together we can at least keep our heads above water. It’s just honest work and trying to look out for each other in the village.
