Smartlec

Our shop is right there on Railway Station Road, just near the SBOP Bank at Patiala Chowk. It’s a busy intersection, so there is always a lot of traffic and the sound of horns going off throughout the day. We are at 25-26, and we’ve gotten used to the noise of the trains passing by not too far away from the back of the building. At Smartlec, things are usually pretty hands-on. We spend a lot of time with tools out on the bench, working through different electrical bits and pieces that need fixing. The windows get a bit grimy from the road dust, so we have to wipe them down more often than we’d like to admit. It’s a good location though, because people can just drop in while they are heading to the bank or over to the station. We keep a pot of tea going in the back room most of the time. The shelves are packed with all kinds of components, and sometimes it takes a few minutes to find the specific one we need for a job. It’s not a polished corporate office; it’s more of a workshop where we actually get our hands dirty every day. We’ve got a couple of old chairs for customers to sit on while they wait for us to finish something. Most of the people who come in are regulars from around the neighborhood. We know their names and what they usually need. It’s a simple way to run a business.
