We set up our trading business on Badarpur Road, and we are quite close to the Nath Ji Ka Tila, which is the main thing people look for when they are trying to find us. The road stays dusty because of all the trucks passing through, so we are constantly cleaning the front of the shop. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks of goods and boxes waiting to be moved out. We trade a variety of things, and the inventory changes depending on what is coming in that week. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and shifting items, and then sitting down at the wooden desk to write out the receipts by hand. We don't use any fancy systems, just the ledger books that we have always used. Usually, there’s a pot of tea going somewhere in the back, and the smell of the road outside is always there. It’s a busy life being a trader on a main road like this. You meet all kinds of drivers and suppliers throughout the day. Some days are slow and we just sit on the bench outside and watch the traffic go by the Tila. Other days, we don't even have time to eat lunch because there are three trucks waiting to be loaded. It’s just how the trading life goes on Badarpur Road. We’ve been here long enough that the locals just call us by name.
