Smc Power Generation Limited has been part of the Jharsuguda landscape for a good while now. Our office is set up over at the place that belonged to the late Suresh Chandra Sahoo. It is a familiar spot if you live around here in Orissa. We do not have any big flashing signs or a lobby with a receptionist. It is just a regular building where we handle the daily business of power generation without much fuss. The work we do is mostly routine, checking the meters and keeping track of the daily output for the records. We have a small crew here, and most of us have been working together for years. We know how the local grid behaves and what to expect when the monsoon season hits. It isn't the kind of job where things change every single day, which is fine by us. We like the stability of the routine. Jharsuguda is an industrial town, so a business like ours fits right in with the rest of the landscape. Sometimes it gets a bit loud or dusty outside, but that is just part of living in an industrial hub. We drink a lot of tea in the break room and talk about the day’s tasks. There is not much to say about our philosophy. We just come in, do what is required of us, and try to make sure everything runs without any major hitches. It is just a simple, local operation.
