Satish Earth Work

Satish Earth Work is based in Ward No- 5 in Lohardaga. Our yard is right on the Main Road, not far from the Forest Check Post. You can usually see our machines parked there when they aren't out on a job. Earthwork is heavy, messy business. We deal with a lot of dirt, rocks, and mud every single day. The location near the check post is handy because we see all the traffic going in and out of the forest area. Most of our work involves digging or clearing land for people around the district. When the monsoon hits, things slow down a lot because the ground gets too soft for the heavy tires. We spend those days fixing the equipment or cleaning the grease off the tools. Satish is usually the one talking to the drivers and figuring out where the next load of soil needs to go. It is a loud environment with the sound of diesel engines and metal clanking. We don’t have a polished office; it’s just a small spot to sit and have a cup of water. Our clothes are rarely clean, and the boots stay caked in dry mud. We’ve been working in Lohardaga for a long time, so we know the local ground pretty well. It’s just about moving earth from point A to point B and making sure the machines don’t break down in the middle of a job.
