Rajesh Rai Cancer Foundation

Our office is located at 240/U Dcl, which is quite near the BKD College in Jhansi. If you are familiar with the 284001 area, you probably know that this part of town can get pretty crowded with students and local traffic during the day. We have a small space here where we handle everything for the foundation. It’s an older building, so the walls are thick and it stays relatively cool even when the Jhansi sun is beating down outside. We have a few chairs in the front for people who come to visit us, and the back is mostly taken up by filing cabinets and a couple of desks. It is not a very big place, but it works for what we need to do each day. Usually, we arrive in the morning and start by clearing off the dust from the night before. There is a small tea stall just down the road that makes very good chai, so we are frequent customers there when we need a break. The atmosphere is generally busy because of the college nearby, so there is always the sound of scooters and people talking. We don't really do any big advertising or anything like that. People mostly find out about us by word of mouth or by just walking past the building on their way to something else. It’s just a handful of us working here, trying to stay on top of the documents and requests that come in. It’s plain and simple work.
