You have to head up to the 3rd floor of Balaji Tower at Elite Crossing to find us. Taking the stairs is a bit of a workout if the lift is being slow, which happens more than it should. Our space is usually full of samples, wood shavings, and rolls of drawings. It’s an interior design office, but it often looks more like a workshop because we’re always measuring things or looking at fabric swatches. The crossing outside is always jammed with cars, so you can hear the honking even from the third floor. We’re just a small group of people who like putting rooms together. It’s not always glamorous work; there’s a lot of cleaning up and dealing with vendors who deliver things late. We spend a lot of time on the phone or sketching out ideas on scraps of paper. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights and music. It’s just our desks and a lot of catalogs piled up in the corners. Sometimes we have tea together and talk about how to fix a cabinet that didn’t fit right. We work long hours when a project is finishing up. It’s just honest work, trying to make houses look a bit better one room at a time. We like being in this part of town, even if parking is a nightmare for everyone. The windows get quite dusty from the road, but the view of the traffic is actually alright when you need a break.
