Sshafin Hospital

Sshafin Hospital is located right in Aklera. It is a small town, and everyone pretty much knows where everything is, so we don't really have to give out complicated directions. The hospital is a simple building that we try to keep as clean as possible despite all the dust that blows in from the roads around here. It can get incredibly hot during the summer months, so we spend a lot of time making sure the coolers are filled with water and the fans are actually working. We see a lot of people coming in from the nearby villages, often arriving early in the morning on buses or tractors. Our waiting area is basically just some long benches where people sit and wait their turn. We don't have a lot of fancy technology, just the basic tools we need to check on people and give them the medicine they need. There is a lot of paperwork to do by hand because we don't use computers for everything yet. The staff stays busy with basic things like cleaning bandages and keeping track of who is coming and going. Sometimes the building feels a bit old and the roof might leak a little when the monsoon rains are heavy, but we just put a bucket down and keep going. It’s a tough environment sometimes, but we are just here to do what we can for the people of Aklera.
