Rajiv Gandhi Technical University

This branch of Rajiv Gandhi Technical University is situated right near the bus stand in Islam Pura. It’s in Sunel, which is part of the Jhalawar district. Being near the bus stand means there’s always a lot of movement outside our front door. You can hear the buses pulling in and people shouting throughout the day. It’s a very local feel here. We don't have those massive glass walls you see in city universities. Our building is more functional and straightforward for the staff and the students. Most of us who work here are from around the area, so we know the people coming in and out. We spend the day helping with admissions, answering questions about exams, and making sure the university records are kept straight. It can get pretty hectic when a new semester is starting up. The dust from the road usually finds its way inside, so we’re always wiping down the desks in the morning. It’s a small town vibe, where you recognize the faces of the students and their parents. We don’t have a big cafeteria, just a small spot to sit and have some tea when there is a break. The work is steady and necessary for the folks in Jhalawar who want to study technical subjects. We just show up, do the filing, talk to the visitors, and keep the lights on. It’s an honest way to spend the day, even if the bus horns get loud.
