Aklera Steel Traders

Our shop is located right in the middle of the Main Market in Jhalrapatan. We are very close to the Bada Mandir. You really can't miss the loud sound of the steel being moved around all day. Jhalawar is a good place for this kind of steel work. Aklera Steel Traders is where we spend almost all of our waking hours. We are situated near National Highway 12, so the big trucks can find us pretty easily. We have large stacks of steel rods and flat sheets everywhere. They are very heavy and sometimes they get a little bit of rust on them if the rain leaks in. We just take a cloth and wipe them down. It’s a very dusty and dirty job. My hands are usually completely black with dirt by noon. We have a small manual scale for weighing everything we sell. The people in the neighborhood are good folks. We often talk about the weather or the current prices while we work. The sun gets incredibly hot in the afternoon hours. We usually sit in the back of the shop where it stays a bit cooler. We don't even have a big sign out front. People just look for the stacks of steel. We’ve been here long enough that everyone in town knows the spot. It’s a simple life for us. We sell the steel, talk to the folks who come in, and close up when it gets dark.
