Shiv Shankar Rice Mill

Shiv Shankar Rice Mill is based in New Mandali. We are very close to the By Pass Road, which is handy for the trucks coming and going. The mill is a pretty busy spot, especially when the farmers are harvesting. We have several machines that process the paddy into rice. It’s a very noisy environment, and you have to yell to be heard over the engines. We’ve been at this location for a long time. The building is a bit old and the roof leaks a little when it rains hard. We just put buckets under the drips and keep working. We aren't a big company with a lot of money. It’s just us doing the work we’ve always done. We don't have an office with air conditioning. We mostly just sit on some old chairs near the back. The By Pass Road is always loud with traffic, but it helps us get our rice out to different places. We don't do any kind of promotion. Farmers know us and they bring their crops here. It’s hard, physical labor and we go home tired every day. We just want to keep the mill in good shape and do a decent job for the people who rely on us. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s a steady one. We’re just glad to have the work and keep the machines running through the season.
