Taragarh Palace Hotel

We have been here at Taragarh Palace Hotel for a long time now. The palace itself is quite old and it takes a lot of daily work to keep everything up and running. Being in the Kangra Valley means the weather changes pretty fast, and we spend most of our mornings just checking on things around the grounds. It is not a fancy office job by any means. We are mostly out in the gardens or making sure the rooms are ready for whoever is coming up from the plains to visit. My family knew this area well, and we just stayed on to run the place. The road up here through Baijnath can be a bit bumpy sometimes, but people still manage to find us. It is quiet for the most part. You mostly hear the birds and maybe a tractor in the distance from the nearby village. We do not have a big corporate team or anything like that. It is just a few of us from the local villages who do everything from the kitchen work to the cleaning. Sometimes things break and we have to fix them ourselves because getting a repairman out here to the valley can take a few days. We try to keep the food simple, like what we eat at home. The thick stone walls of the hotel stay cool in the summer, which is good for the guests. It is a slow life, but it keeps us busy enough.
