Mother Foundation School

If you head down the Machhali Shahar Road toward Balwarganj, you’ll find Mother Foundation School in Chhimiya. It’s a bit of a drive from the main Jaunpur town, and the surroundings are much quieter than the big cities. We have a lot of open space around us, which is nice when the breeze picks up. The school building is simple, painted in colors that have faded a bit under the Uttar Pradesh sun. Most of our students come from the nearby villages, often walking or coming on bicycles. You’ll see them arriving in the morning, their uniforms usually a bit dusty from the road. We spend our days teaching in rooms that stay relatively cool because of the thick walls. There isn't a lot of traffic out here, so you mostly hear the birds or the sound of a tractor passing by on the road to Sujanganj. The teachers often live close by, so they understand the local life here. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or a big theater. Our assemblies happen in the open air, and if it rains, we all squeeze into the corridors. It’s a practical place built for the local community. We focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the kids understand their lessons. It’s honest work, and the school feels like a central part of the life here in Balwarganj. We keep a few extra benches in the back for when parents come to visit.
