Khan Bricks Field

Khan Bricks Field is sitting over in Village Gahlai, which is not too far from the Post Tejgarh. It's a wide open spot where we spend almost all of our daylight hours working the earth. The work is simple enough to understand, but it’s definitely not easy on the legs or the back. We spend our early mornings mixing up the clay and our afternoons stacking the finished bricks in rows. It’s been like this for as long as I can really remember. The soil around Gahlai is decent for this kind of work, which we consider a blessing since it makes the bricks come out stronger. We don't have a big office or a fancy place to sit. Most of our business happens right there in the dirt next to the kiln where the work gets done. People come from all over this part of the district because they need materials for their new homes or shops. We don't make any big promises or use sales talk, we just show them what we've got ready in the stacks. Sometimes the kiln doesn't heat up exactly right because of the damp wood, and we have to spend extra time fixing the whole batch. That's just how it goes with this kind of work. It’s unpredictable sometimes, but we just deal with it. We like the quiet life out here in the village, away from the city. We just keep our heads down and work.
