We started here in Belwar Jaunpur a long time ago. My father used to do this work and now I handle the shop every day. It is mostly wood and sawdust around here, but that is how a furniture place looks. We make things like chairs, tables, and beds when people come and ask. Sometimes they bring a picture and we try to copy it. It is not always perfect but we try to make it strong so it lasts. The shop is small and sometimes gets crowded with too many planks. It gets hot in the afternoons but we keep working because people need their stuff on time. Our tools are mostly old but they work fine for the type of timber we get here. Usually, it is just me and two other guys cutting and sanding. We don't have a big fancy showroom. If you walk by in the morning, you will hear the saw going. People from the village know us well. We don't do much talking, mostly just measuring and hammering. It’s hard work on the back. Sometimes the wood delivery is late and then we have to work into the night. It is just a normal life for us here in Jaunpur. We take the orders, do the wood finishing, and hope the customer likes the polish. That is basically what happens at Gupta Furnitures every single day of the week.
