Ashok Carpet Company is out in Gopalapur. It’s a bit away from the main city buzz, which we actually prefer. Our main address is just the P.O. box in Gopalapur because that’s how things are handled around here. We work with carpets, and it’s a slow, steady kind of business. We don't rush things because you can't really rush this kind of work. The workshop is usually quiet, except for the sounds of the tools and people talking quietly while they work. We have a lot of space for the materials, and it gets quite dusty with all the fibers flying around. We don't have a big storefront with lights. It’s more of a production place where the real work happens. Most of us live nearby, so we just walk or cycle in. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. People around here know who we are and what we do without us having to say much. It’s a simple setup. We focus on the carpets and making sure they are ready when they need to be. We aren't trying to impress anyone with fancy talk. We just like the craft and the way it keeps us busy. In the evenings, we lock up and head home, ready to do the same thing tomorrow. It is a good way to make a living and we appreciate the quiet life here.
