Samaksh Welfare Association

Our association is based at Deendayal Niwas, LIG-227 in Khokharabhata. This is in the Janjgir-Champa area, which is part of the Bilaspur district. We use a house as our office, so it feels more like a home than a place of business. We’re just a group of people from the neighborhood who wanted to get organized. It’s pretty quiet around here, except when the local kids are playing outside. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or meeting with people in their own homes. We don’t have a corporate structure or any official titles that we use. We just do whatever needs doing. Sometimes we’re looking into local welfare issues, and other times we’re just helping someone navigate a local government office. It’s hard work, and we don't always see results right away. We have to be very careful with our resources because we don't have much. Most of our meetings happen in the evening when everyone is done with their regular jobs. We sit in the main room and talk through things. It’s honest work, and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. We aren’t experts, just concerned citizens. People know they can find us at LIG-227 if they need a hand. We’ve been here for a while and plan to stay for as long as we’re needed in the Champa-Bilaspur area.
