About Suguna Rice Cultivation – Food & Beverages in Janagam
Suguna Rice Cultivation isn't a big office building or anything like that. We work right out of the house at H. No-4-181 in Harijanawada. Jangam is a place where you really feel the seasons changing, especially when you are waiting for the rains to come so the rice can start growing. Most of our days are spent out in the mud and the sun, checking on the stalks and making sure the water is flowing where it should. It’s hard work that makes your back ache by the end of the day, but it’s what we have always done. My family helps out, and we all know the rhythm of the harvest by heart now. When the crop is ready, the whole place smells like fresh grain and dust. We don't have fancy machinery or a marketing team. We just have the land and the seeds. Sometimes the pests are a problem, or the weather doesn't go our way, and we just have to deal with it as it comes. People in the neighborhood know where to find us if they need to talk about the current yield or just want to sit on the porch for a minute. It’s a busy life, but it’s honest. We don't spend much time on the computer, as there is always something that needs doing out in the fields before the sun goes down.
