About Sankar Rice Cultivation – Food & Beverages in Janagam
We have been working the land here at 57, Kadapagandi Tanda in Jangam for quite a while now. Growing rice isn't always easy because of the shifting weather and water issues, but it is what we do. Most days start pretty early before the sun gets too hot to stand. You can usually find us out in the fields checking the stalks or making sure the irrigation channels are clear of debris. Sankar Rice Cultivation is basically just us doing the same things our neighbors do around Jangam. Sometimes the harvest is great and other years it takes a bit more effort to get things right. We handle the planting, the weeding, and eventually the cutting when the time finally comes. People around here know where to find us if they need to talk about the crop or just see how things are going this season. It is a lot of physical work and my hands are usually dirty by noon. We don't have a big office or anything fancy, just the space out here in the Tanda. It gets very dusty during the dry months. We try to keep the machinery running well enough to get through the day without too many breakdowns. If you are passing through Jangam, you will see the fields stretched out. It is a quiet life for the most part, focusing on the rice and making sure the grains are looking okay before they head out. That is pretty much the whole story.
