Muttamma Vegetable Cultivation

We run Muttamma Vegetable Cultivation from our place at H. No-5-166 in Jangam. It is mostly outdoor work, as you can imagine. We wake up early, usually before the sun is even up, to check on the crops. The house is where we keep the tools and some of the seeds, and it serves as our main base. Jangam is a small place, so everyone knows where we are located. We grow whatever is in season and hope for good rain. Some years are better than others, depending on the weather and the bugs. We are not a big commercial farm with lots of tractors. Most of the work is done by hand or with simple tools. When the vegetables are ready, we spend the whole day picking and sorting them. It is tiring and my back often hurts by the evening, but it is a living. We sell what we grow to local markets and people who stop by the house. There isn't any fancy packaging or branding here. You just get the vegetables as they come out of the dirt. We have been doing this for a long time now. The house at number 5-166 has been in the family, and the land around it is what keeps us busy. It is a simple life, focused on the soil and the seasons, and we just take things one harvest at a time.
