Pratap Masala Mill

Pratap Masala Mill is located right on Bhagalpur Road in Sangrampur, Munger. If you walk past, you can usually hear the big stones grinding away through the open door. It is a dusty job, and by the end of the day, our clothes are covered in red and yellow powder. We have been doing this for a long time now. People bring their own grain or spices sometimes, or they just buy what we have already ground up in the mill. It is an old building and it gets quite hot in the summer months. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just a few big windows and a ceiling fan that works when the electricity is steady. My uncle started this place years ago and now we carry it on. We see a lot of the same faces every week. Farmers from the nearby villages come in with their produce on their carts. We try to keep things simple and honest. There is no big management team here, just us and a couple of helpers who know how to run the machines properly. Sometimes a belt breaks and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing it. It is just the way things go at a local mill. We take a short break in the afternoon when the sun is too high and have some food together. Then it is back to the grinding until it gets dark outside and we finally lock up for the night.
