Somen Karmakar Photography

I’ve been doing photography here in Jamshedpur for a long time. My place is based around Tata Nagar. It isn’t a big studio with fancy lights and a reception desk. It’s mostly just me and my cameras. I spend a lot of my time out at different locations, like weddings, local events, or just taking portraits for families. Jamshedpur has some nice spots for photos if you know where to look. My office is usually a bit of a mess with cables, tripods, and memory cards lying around on the table. I spend hours sitting at my computer editing photos and trying to get the colors right. It’s a lot of work that people don't see. I don't use any big marketing tricks. Most of my work comes from people telling their friends about me. I like capturing things as they happen, without making everyone pose too much. Sometimes the equipment breaks or the lighting is terrible, but you just have to figure it out as you go. It’s just a one-man show mostly, though I sometimes have a friend help out during the busy wedding season when things get really hectic. I’ve lived in Tata Nagar for years, so I know my way around the streets. I just like taking pictures and helping people keep some memories of their big days. It’s a decent way to make a living and I get to meet a lot of different people. The battery charger is always plugged in somewhere in the corner.
