About Rajaram Furniture Industries – Metals & Minerals in Jamshedpur
We operate out of Lalit Kutir on N-Road in Bistupur. It’s more of a workshop than anything else. You can smell the cut wood and the polish from the street before you even walk through the door. We spend our days making furniture. Chairs, tables, cupboards, that kind of thing. It’s a messy job. There’s sawdust in every corner, no matter how much we sweep each evening. We use a lot of hand tools and some older machines that still work perfectly fine for what we need. It’s not a factory line. Each piece takes time to put together. Sometimes we stay late to finish a varnish job because the humidity was too high during the day. We’ve been in this part of town for quite a while now. Neighbors know the sound of our saws. We don't have a showroom with bright lights. People just come to the workshop and see what we are building. We show them the wood we’re using and explain how it’s joined together. It’s honest, manual work. Sometimes we get a bit behind on orders when a machine breaks down, but we catch up eventually by working extra hours. It’s just how it goes when you’re making things by hand. Our hands are usually rough and stained from the work, but that’s the life of a furniture maker. We don't mind the hard work as long as the wood is good.
