Mechanical, Kalinga Nagar Project, Orissa , India

Our main base is here at 302, Green Enclave in Kadma. Jamshedpur is a steel town, everyone knows that. It’s quiet in this part of Jharkhand compared to the bigger cities. Most of our actual work happens out at the Kalinga Nagar Project over in Orissa. It’s a long way to go, but that is where the mechanical stuff is happening. We spend a lot of time traveling back and forth on the roads. When we are back at the Green Enclave office, it is mostly about getting the schedules ready and checking the plans. The apartment building is nice enough, with some trees around. It doesn't feel like a big industrial office, which is a good change of pace from the project site. We have some desks set up and some old computers. We do the mechanical planning for the site workers. It gets dusty out at the project, so coming back to Kadma is a bit of a relief. Sometimes the neighbors ask what we are doing with all the blueprints and rolls of paper. We just tell them we’re working on the Orissa job. It is a lot of coordination between different people. Jamshedpur has been our home for a while now. We don’t have fancy uniforms or big signs outside. Just a small plate on the door and a lot of work to finish before the next site visit. It is just a normal job for us.
