Gypsum World

Our shop, Gypsum World, is down in Kunwar Basti on Old Purulia Road in the Mango area of Jamshedpur. We are situated right below the Bank of India, so that’s usually how people find us if they get lost. There’s a big water tank nearby too. We deal mostly with gypsum boards, ceiling materials, and all the little bits and pieces that go along with that. The space is a bit cramped because those boards take up a lot of room when they are stacked up. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading crates from the back of vans. It’s a bit dusty inside because of the nature of what we sell, but we try to keep it as clean as we can. Most of our customers are contractors who are doing interiors for offices or houses around Jamshedpur. They usually know exactly what they want, so we just pull the order and get them on their way. Sometimes someone will come in with a sketch on a piece of paper and we help them figure out how much material they need. We’ve been at this location for a good while, and we like being part of the Mango community. It’s a noisy neighborhood with lots of traffic, but that’s just how it is here. We start early and close up once the sun goes down and the bank upstairs finishes for the day. It is a long day but it is okay.
