Bistupur Main Road is always busy. Our spot in Voltas House sees a lot of foot traffic. People come in with their mobile phones and papers. They want to talk about their connections or pay a bill that is due. It is loud outside with the horns and the cars passing by. Inside, it is a bit calmer. We have the usual desks and some folders stacked up. Tata Tele Services has been in this part of town for a good bit of time. You can see the Voltas House sign from the road easily. Sometimes the internet is fast and sometimes we are just waiting on the system to load. It is the kind of office where you know the faces of the people who work next door. We get people from all over Jamshedpur coming through those doors. Some are in a hurry and some just want to sit and complain about their signal. We listen and try to sort things out. The floors get scuffed from all the walking, so we have to mop them every single morning before the first customer walks in. By noon, the sun hits the front windows and it gets bright. We just keep doing what we do every day. It is not glamorous work but it keeps everyone connected to their families and their jobs. We just focus on the customers who walk in through the door and try to keep things moving along.
