Al Rahman General Store

Al Rahman General Store is located in Kabir Nagar, just off the Old Purulia Road in the Mango area. It’s a busy part of town, and there is always something going on outside our door. We’ve set up the shop to handle the daily needs of the families living around T.O.P. Most of our space is filled with food items, spices, and things for the house. It’s not a huge place, so we have to be smart about how we stack the crates. Sometimes the bags of flour are piled quite high near the back. We see a lot of the same faces every day, which is nice. People come in to pick up things for dinner or maybe some sweets for their kids. We try to keep the prices fair because we know everyone in the neighborhood. The street outside can get quite noisy with all the rickshaws and motorbikes passing by. Inside, it’s a bit calmer, though we are usually busy weighing out lentils or bagging up sugar. We don't use any fancy technology, just a simple scale and a ledger for keeping track of things. It’s how we’ve always done it. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to use flashlights for a bit, but we don't let it stop us. It’s just a regular neighborhood shop where everyone knows each other. We stay open until late evening most days to make sure people can get what they need.
