About Vimal Gohil Photography – Photography in Jamnagar
I work out of Room No. 116 in the Government Physio Khairati Boy'S Hostel. It’s a small space, but it’s where all my camera gear stays. I spend a lot of time charging batteries and cleaning lenses. There are always students walking in the hallways since it is a hostel. It gets quite loud during the evenings when everyone is back from classes. I don't have a big studio with lights and backdrops. I usually go out to where the people are. Most of my editing happens on an old desk in the corner of the room. The light from the window is good in the morning. I started taking photos as a hobby and then people started asking me to do it for them. My roommates think it’s cool, but they complain when I have too many bags on the floor. I keep my printed photos in a leather folder under the bed. The hostel food isn't the best, so I'm often out looking for a snack while I'm on my way to a shoot. I don't have a fancy business card. I just tell people where I stay. Sometimes I practice taking shots of the birds on the hostel roof. It’s a simple start for me. I’m just trying to capture what I see. Every day is different and I like not having to sit in an office all day long. It's just me and my camera trying to make something look good.
