Well Fastners

Well Fastners is over at C-2/306 Gidc - 1 in the Shankar Tekri Udyognagar area of Jamnagar. Jamnagar is well known for this kind of metal work, and we are right in the middle of it. Our unit is mostly filled with the sound of metal hitting metal. We make fasteners like bolts and screws, so there are bins everywhere filled with small metal parts. It’s greasy work, and our hands are usually stained by the end of the shift. The machines are old but they still work fine as long as we keep them greased up. Shankar Tekri is a very busy udyognagar, and there is always the smell of oil and metal in the air. We don't have a fancy office, just a small partitioned area with a fan and a desk where we keep the logs. It gets very loud in here, so we usually have to shout to be heard over the noise of the machines. We have a regular routine of checking the sizes and making sure the threads are clean. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend half the day fixing it ourselves. We aren't a big factory, just a local shop trying to stay busy. We have tea together in the afternoon and talk about what needs to get done before we close up. The floor is always covered in metal shavings that we have to sweep up before heading home.
