Speedwell Industries

We are over here at Plot No. 444/1 in Gidc-1, Shankar Tekri. It’s part of the Udyognagar area in Jamnagar. Speedwell Industries has been around for a while now. Most days start early. You can hear the machines running as soon as you walk into the gate. Jamnagar gets pretty hot, especially in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy work done before it gets too bad. The shop floor is usually busy with people moving things around. There’s always dust in the air, but that’s just how it is in an industrial area like this. We handle a lot of metal work here. It’s noisy and greasy, but it's what we do. Our neighbors are all doing similar stuff. If you walk down the road, you see trucks coming and going all the time. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit and everyone just takes a break until it comes back on. We have a small office where the paperwork gets filed, though it's mostly covered in ledger books and old pens. We don't have fancy furniture or anything. Just desks and chairs that have seen better days. It’s a practical place. We focus on getting the orders out on time. Some of the guys have worked here for years. They know exactly how the machines sound when they’re running right. We don't do much talking, mostly just working. That’s the life at Shankar Tekri.
