Shraddha Brass Industries

Down here at B-12 in the Gidc - 1 area of Shankar Tekri, the air always smells a bit like hot metal. That is just how it is when you run Shraddha Brass Industries. We are right in the middle of the Udyognagar section of Jamnagar, which is always humming with the sound of machines. Our workshop isn't very large, but we’ve crammed a lot of tools into it. There are brass shavings all over the floor by noon, and we have to sweep them up so nobody slips. It is hard work, mostly standing at the lathes or checking the finish on the small parts we make. The light in the back of the shop isn't the best, so we use extra lamps when we are doing the fine stuff. Some days the heat from the melting pot makes the whole place feel like an oven, especially in the summer. We just drink plenty of water and keep going. We don’t have a marketing department or a big sales team. It’s just us working with our hands. People from the other units nearby often stop by to borrow a wrench or just to see what we are making this week. We’ve stayed at this Shankar Tekri address because it’s where all the brass work happens in town. It is a gritty, noisy life, but we take the metal and turn it into something useful, and that feels alright.
