Shankarvijay Brass Moulding Works

Our place is over in Shankar Tekri, specifically Shed No. 425 in the GIDC area. If you’ve ever walked around here, you know the smell of melting metal and the sound of hammers. That’s our daily life. We do brass moulding, which is messy and hot work, especially when the furnaces are running full blast. It isn't a clean office job. You walk in and see sand, molds, and bits of brass everywhere. We spend most of our hours making sure the pours are right and the cooling happens like it should. It’s hard on the hands. My dad used to say the metal tells you when it’s ready, and even though we have some newer ways of doing things, it still feels like old-school labor. We don’t have a big sign or a fancy lobby. People find us because they need brass parts made, and we’ve been in this spot long enough that the neighbors know us. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that’s usually when we take a breather. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and making sure the temperature stays where it needs to be. We just try to keep the machines running and the output steady. Some days the humidity makes the work feel twice as hard, but we show up and do it anyway because that’s the job.
