Satish Brass Products

Down here in Jamnagar, at Satish Brass Products, we are part of the big industrial area that this city is known for. You can find us at 24 Ashapura Industrial Estate, which is right behind the Bhagavati Hotel on Udyognagar Road. The sound of machines and metal hitting metal is something you just get used to after the first hour of being here. Our shop is number 58, and it’s usually quite hot inside because of the work we do with the brass. There are piles of metal shavings in the corners and heavy tools sitting on the workbenches. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a workspace where we get things done. The road outside is always busy with trucks and people moving goods back and forth. Sometimes we grab tea from the stall nearby when the heat gets to be too much. We focus on the pieces we are making, making sure the threads are right or the polishing is okay. It’s greasy work and our hands are usually dark by the end of the shift. Most of our day is spent standing at the machines or checking the orders that need to go out by the weekend. We’ve been at this spot for a while and the people in the neighboring units are all doing similar work, so we all know each other well and look out for each other.
