Katariya Brass Industries

Katariya Brass Industries is situated at K-1/272 in Gidc - 1, Jamnagar. Like most places in Shankar Tekri Udyognagar, we are a brass manufacturing unit. Our daily routine involves a lot of casting and machining. It’s a very hands-on job. We have a small crew that works the shifts. The workshop isn't very large, but we’ve crammed a lot of equipment into it over the years. You have to watch your step because of the scrap metal on the floor. We produce various brass fittings and custom pieces for people who bring in drawings. Sometimes the drawings are just sketches on a piece of paper, and we have to figure it out from there. Jamnagar’s heat doesn't help when you’re standing near a furnace, so we drink a lot of water and keep the exhaust fans running. We don't have a sales team. Usually, the phone rings and it’s someone we’ve known for ten years asking for a batch of valves or pins. We try to keep our prices fair so we keep getting work. The building itself is a bit old, and the paint is peeling in some spots. But the machines inside are kept in good shape because that’s what pays the bills. It’s a steady life in the industrial estate. Every Friday we do a bit of a cleanup, though by Monday morning the shavings are everywhere again. That is just how the work goes for us. We don't make a big deal out of it, we just keep the machines running.
