Living and working around Shankar Tekri Udyognagar means you get used to a certain kind of pace. Dew-lite Rubber Products P. Ltd. is right at Plot No. 428 in Gidc - 1, and if you have ever been to Jamnagar, you know the air has a specific feel to it. Our building isn't anything special to look at. It’s just a practical space with concrete floors and a lot of rubber scent hanging around in the corners. The guys show up early because it’s better to get the heavy work done before the midday sun really starts beating down on the roof. We spend a lot of time just moving things from one side of the floor to the other and making sure the machines are behaving themselves. There is a lot of noise, mostly from the neighbors who are also grinding away at their own projects. We’ve got a small area where we keep the finished stock and it’s always a bit of a squeeze when a shipment arrives. You learn to navigate the narrow lanes of the industrial estate after a while though. Sometimes the power goes out and we all just sit outside on the steps for a bit until it comes back on. It’s a simple way of doing things. No one is wearing a suit here and the conversations are mostly about the price of materials or what’s for lunch today. It is just home for us.
