Shree Digvijay Cement Company Limited

I spend most of my working hours in Room F-9 of the Officers Hostel over in Digvijaygram. It’s a basic setup, really just a room where we keep the ledgers and handle the day-to-day tasks for the cement company. Sikka is a dusty town, but it’s where the work is, so we don't complain much about it. The hostel is full of people who are all here for the same reason—to keep the plant running. You learn to live with the constant hum of machinery in the distance. My desk is right by the window, but I usually keep it shut to keep the heat out during the afternoons. In Gujarat, the sun doesn't play around, and it can get quite stuffy in these rooms. We don't have a big reception or a waiting area. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find me sorting through papers or on the phone with the transport guys. Life here is tied to the cement cycles. When the kilns are busy, we are busy. We take our breaks when we can, usually a quick cup of chai from the stall nearby. It’s a practical way to live and work. There’s nothing fancy about the hostel or how we run things in F-9, but it works for us and the people we deal with. We’ve been at this address for a long time now and have no plans of moving.
