Asian Brass Products

Our shed is number 516/4 at Gidc Shankar Tekri. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren’t from around here, but it’s right near the big kerosene tank. We’re across from Sabbarwal Estate Road. Asian Brass Products has been here through all sorts of weather. Working with brass means there’s always a certain smell in the air and a fine dust on the tables. We don’t have air conditioning, so we keep the big doors open to let some air in. It gets loud when the machines are all running at once. We’ve got a small group of workers who have been with us for a long time. We know each other’s families and how we like our coffee. The area around Shankar Tekri is always humming with other small shops doing similar things. We share tools sometimes or help a neighbor load a truck. It’s a community of makers. We don’t put on airs here. If you come by, you’ll see us in our work clothes, probably with some grease on our hands. We keep the inventory stacked in the back. Sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a customer is looking for, but we usually have it somewhere. It's a practical way to live and work. We just focus on getting the brass work done and getting home to our families at the end of the day. It is simple and steady.
