Reliance Brass Industries

At Reliance Brass Industries, we spend our days at K-1, 79/10 in the Gidc area of Shanker Tekri. This is Udyognagar, so you can imagine the surroundings. It’s all metal and machines around here. The air usually has that metallic smell, and it’s never truly quiet. Our unit isn’t the biggest one in the Gidc, but we keep it busy. We work with brass mostly, so there are yellow shavings everywhere on the floor. We try to sweep up, but it’s a losing battle until the end of the shift. It gets hot near the machines, especially in the summer months. We have a few big fans, but they mostly just move the warm air around. Still, we’re used to it. We’ve been at Shanker Tekri for years, and we’ve seen shops come and go. We stay focused on our own lathes and presses. Most of our neighbors are doing similar work, so we often borrow a tool or help each other out with a heavy load. It’s a hardworking part of town. We don't have any fancy signs or a big office upstairs. Just a desk with a ledger and a telephone. We take our work seriously and try to stay out of the way of the big trucks on the main road. The gates are usually open to let a little breeze in when the sun is high.
