If you head down towards Bedi Port Road, you’ll find us easily enough. Raj Dhanvantry Pharmacy has been a fixture on this stretch for a long time. It isn't a huge place, just a simple shop filled with shelves of medicines and everyday supplies. We see a lot of people coming through, some just passing by the port and others who live right around the corner. We try to keep the shelves stocked with what people actually need. It gets a bit dusty with the trucks going past on the road, but we do our best to keep things clean inside. It’s just a few of us working behind the counter. We don't have any fancy computerized systems that do everything for us; we still rely on knowing our inventory and talking to the people who walk in. Some days are slow and we just sit and watch the traffic, but other times there's a line out the door. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. People know we are here because we’ve always been here. It’s a practical kind of business. We know our regulars by name and we know what they usually need. It is a straightforward way to make a living, helping folks get their medicine and getting on with the day. It’s not a complicated life, but it keeps us connected to the neighborhood and the port area. We just keep the door open.
