Nupur Books

The shop is located out in Udyognagar, right on Airforce Road near the Digjam Mills. We chose this spot in Defence Colony because it is easy for families and workers to reach. It’s mostly just me and a helper keeping track of the inventory every day. We have rows of notebooks, pens, and textbooks for the local schools. It’s not one of those modern bookstores with a cafe inside or soft music playing. It’s just metal shelves packed with paper and that heavy smell of ink and old glue. Sometimes the mill workers stop by for a newspaper or a magazine after their shift ends. The road outside can get a bit dusty with all the traffic, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the book covers with a cloth. We carry a lot of stuff for kids, like drawing books and geometry boxes. During the start of the new school term, the place gets quite crowded and it’s hard to move between the narrow aisles. I usually sit at the back desk near the ledger. We’ve been here for several years now, so we’ve seen the kids grow up and move on to college. It feels like part of the neighborhood. People know they can come here and find what they need without any fuss. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but it still says Nupur Books clearly enough for everyone. We don’t do any big advertising around town.
