M/S. Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd., Ambujanagar, Kodinar, Guj

This office here in Udaipur is where Bhavvani Shanker Acharya handles things for the Gujarat Ambuja Cements side of the business. We are located at 16, Mahavirnagar in the New Bhupalpura area. It’s a bit different from the big plant sites over in Ambujanagar, Kodinar. Here in Udaipur, it’s more about the administration and the local coordination. It’s a regular house-turned-office, so it feels more like a home than a corporate building. We have the usual stuff—desks, a few computers, and lots of files stacked up in the corners. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, which is nice when we’re trying to get through the paperwork. We deal with a lot of local distributors and people looking to source cement for their construction projects. It gets quite busy during the building season. Sometimes people just walk in off the street with questions. We don’t have a big reception desk or a sign that lights up at night. It’s just a place where we do our jobs. We drink a lot of chai and talk about the market prices. It’s not very exciting to outsiders, I suppose, but it keeps us on our toes. Managing the supply chain from this side of things takes a lot of phone time. We just try to keep the orders moving and make sure everyone gets what they need without too much of a headache. It’s a small team here, just doing our part and making sure things stay on track as best we can every day.
