Parimal Traders

Our shop is over by the Lakhota Talav Petrol Pump. It’s right there near the Khambhalia Gate in Jamnagar. Being near the lake is nice, though the traffic from the petrol pump and the gate can be quite a lot during the rush hours. We handle trading here, mostly various goods that local businesses need. It’s a mix of different things depending on what people are looking for each week. The shop isn't very big, but we use every inch of the wall space for storage, even the high spots near the roof. We have been in Jamnagar for a long time and have seen the city change around us. The dust from the road comes in sometimes because the doors are always open, so we spend a good bit of time cleaning the counters. We sit on the wooden benches and talk to the regulars who drop by for a chat. Most of our day is spent on the phone or writing down notes in the ledger book. It's hot in Gujarat, so we keep the overhead fan on full speed all day long. Sometimes when it rains, the area near the petrol pump gets a bit muddy and slow, but business goes on regardless. We see a lot of people passing through on their way into the main part of the city. We don't have any big slogans or any of that stuff. We just open up in the morning, sweep the front area, and start the day's work. It’s a simple routine that hasn't changed much over the years. We know the other shopkeepers around the gate quite well.
