KALA SANSKRUTI

I've been working here at Kala Sanskruti for a good while now. Our shop is tucked away in Shop No. 9 over at Jai Labh Complex. If you know Chandi Bazar, you know how busy it gets. It’s a lot of noise and people moving about all day long. We open up the shutters every morning and start setting things out. It’s not a huge place, but we make the most of the space we have. Most of the time, it’s just us handling whatever comes through the door. Sometimes the fans don't work right and it gets a bit warm, but that is just how it is in this part of town. We’ve got shelves full of stuff and we try to keep it organized, though it gets messy when we are busy. People come in from all over the neighborhood. Sometimes they stay for a chat and other times they are in a rush. We don't really do the fancy marketing thing. We just focus on what's in front of us. The Jai Labh Complex is an old building, so it has its quirks. You learn to live with the leaky pipes or the slow elevators. We spend more time here than at home usually. It feels like a second house to us. We just keep doing what we do every day, year after year. It's a simple life running a shop in Chandi Bazar.
