Peshavaria Exports is located at 400 Shanker Tekri Industrial Estate. It’s a large industrial area, and our unit is just one of many in the row. We handle a lot of export work, which means we’re often busy with shipping containers and a fair amount of paperwork. The warehouse is big and echoing, usually filled with crates and cardboard boxes waiting to go out to the port. We don't have any fancy office furniture here; most of us sit at old wooden desks that have been around since we first opened the doors. It’s a noisy place with forklifts moving around and the constant sound of tape dispensers. We don’t talk much about things like "innovation" or "global reach." We just worry about whether the labels are correct and if the shipment will actually make it to the truck on time. Shanker Tekri is a gritty place, full of grease and hard work, and we fit in well with the rest of the units. The lunchroom is just a small table in the back where we share some tea and talk about the weather or how bad the traffic was. We don't even have a big sign out front, just the number 400 painted on the gate. We’ve had some of the same staff working here for many years, and we all know exactly how the system works. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. We just keep moving the boxes out and making sure the counts are right at the end of every day.
